One of the most beautiful panoramic views of the volcanic islands can be enjoyed from the summit of Bartolome Island, located off the eastern coast of Santiago Island. A 40-minute bus ride from Puerto Ayora takes you to the Itabaca Channel, where you board a comfortable excursion boat. The trip takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive at the lunar landscape characterized by recent lava eruptions, you will embark on a 40-minute hike to the lookout point where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lava landscape surrounded by clear blue waters. During a panga ride near the rocks of the island, you will have the opportunity to observe Galapagos penguins that you may also encounter while snorkeling. A varied marine life awaits you with many starfish, sea turtles and colorful fish. Your lunch will be served on board and after snorkeling you will start your return trip to the Itabaca Channel. From there you will continue by bus to Puerto Ayora.
